A note from the photographers…
To live our passion is a blessing and for us, the Great Barrier Reef has been an unlimited source of inspiration both above and below the water. We have enjoyed sharing our aspect of this true wonder since the 1980's, initially as dive charter boat operators where we learned the art of underwater photography and more recently as professional photographers as we continue to explore the unique world that lies within the Great Barrier Reef.
Combining the mechanics of diving and electronics underwater, with an indirect source of light and the unexpected elements of nature, mastering underwater photography proved a challenging task. Living in a wetsuit and breathing out of a steel tank, our skills were honed through thousands of dives and countless rolls of film, all the while building a wealth of knowledge and respect for the Great Barrier Reef through experiencing her moods and tasting the sweet emotion of discovery.
Patience is paramount in any form of nature photography and as we observed this undersea world, we became witness to its perfection and saw beyond what our eyes could see alone. We have been privileged to explore seascapes that defy our imagination, photographed many beautiful and bizarre species, some previously unknown to this area and encountered life forms that seemed to communicate with us as we ventured deeper into this ocean realm.
Our greatest pleasure is to be graced with the ineffable feeling of being accepted as a part of the special world of the Great Barrier Reef in spite of our obvious differences to most of her inhabitants. Expressing the beauty of the reef will always be an inspiration for us, and discovering her treasures will forever lead us to explore her boundless depths.
